SL-XP1 with dim LCD

I have an SL-XP1 I owned since new and it is still working great with all its original components; only the LCD display is a bit too dim, it has good contrast only if looked from the front with the eyes on the same plane as the CD. If it lays on a desk and the display is looked from top it has very low contrast. As far as I remember it never had a sharp display as other portable CDP's, but it appears to get worse. Is it a known defect ?

Does anyone have the service manual for this CDP ?

thanks

The reason for dim contrast is low CPU voltage. Pls check CPU voltage of the CD player. If you cannot find any document of XP1, pls refer to XP5/XP7's service manual. THX!

Thanks !
I bought the XP1 service manual to get exact location of test-points and voltage adjustment resistor. I checked the voltage and indeed it was correct, 4.5V. I slightly increased the voltage just a bit to give a more contrast to the LCD :)
What I noted though is that without the upper case, i.e. looking at the LCD directly, it is much sharper and with good contrast from various angles. Either the case windows is blocking too much light or the "glass" is partially polarised and does block the reflected light from the LCD. Anyway I'm glad the CDP is working as expected.
